The efficiency and simplicity of Eichler architecture appeals to our studio. This client requested a small and unique outdoor space that would create overflow indoor-outdoor spaces and an exciting visual experience looking out from the interior rooms. The freshly remodeled Eichler on this site provided us with an opportunity to implement some cohesive garden concepts. 

The garden design included an outdoor sitting and dining spaces, a steel spout that spills water onto a smooth boulder, and bold landscape walls and screens to create garden room effects. 

The planting is restrained and grows directly form the gravel paving to create a seamless connection between softscape and hardscape. The garden is based on an efficiency of space while the quality is maximized within.

花為聚傘花序，小筒狀花著生於花莖頂部，開紫紅色或淡紫色花，連同花莖算株高約100－150公分。柳葉為十字對生，播種後初期為橢圓形，花莖抽高後的花葉轉為細長型如柳葉狀，因此得名。

柳葉馬鞭草性喜溫暖氣候，生長適溫為20~30℃，不耐寒，10℃以下生長較遲緩，在全日照的環境下生長為佳，如果在日照不足的環境下栽培會生長不良。全年皆可開花，花期長，觀賞價值高，以春、夏、秋開花較佳，冬天則較差或不開花。對土壤選擇不苛，排水良好即可，耐旱能力強，需水量中等。

這是一種高起的花，形態纖細高壓，加上夢幻般的紫色，讓柳葉馬鞭草有一種繁複而神祕的美。在景觀設計中常常在鄉村風格的花園中用到，或獨立成花境，或者與其他顏色的植物搭配。石頭和沙可以很好地襯托她的美。

Cleve West是1990年由John Brookes创建的花园设计公司，是今年chelsea-flower-show的金奖得主，他用了富有肌理的水泥柱为主体，营造出一个沙漠地区特色的景观。（www.clevewest.com）

而在2010年的chelsea-flower-show上展出的花园最让人印象深刻是这个圆锥形的水泥雕塑，水泥水景，还有断隔的水泥立屏，简单的水泥能做出这些特殊的效果，让人惊叹。
